Mark Wahlberg was a major revelation as Dignam.
I almost felt the movie was a black comedy with Baldwin, Nicholson, Wahlberg routinely making me laugh out loud.

hi pattonjr5 - there are a bunch of films i really love that i've just never gotten around to reviewing; 'Mulholland Drive' is one of them. my choice in what to review tends to be scattershot - if i think of something i want to say, i try to write the review immediately; otherwise, i usually just forget & watch another movie.

Naomi Watts's finest moment, hands-down, was 'Mulholland Drive.' unfortunately her career moves since have almost all been horrible.

interesting that you praised naomi watts in this review, but when i looked for a review of anything naomi watts did...all you did was knock her in her only high profile award-winning role 21grams. mulholland dr started her career (for all intents & purposes) but 21grams made it (the nytimes said she was the most eloquent sufferer since silent films & she suffered in mulholland dr as well. yet all you do is mention in her passing. no mulholland dr review. some people merely pass on what others have said about films.

hey hanny! so, Singer certainly does mix the heroic metaphors, but the Christ imagery was clearly the winner. i also rolled my eyes at the Brando voiceover samples about sending my only son to Earth, blah blah blah. maybe i just missed all of the same in the original Superman b/c i was, what, too busy learning how to walk?, but then, Singer's the one who decided to resurrect (inexcusable pun) Superman at this particular moment, when Christians are apparently so in need of affirmation that they're looking to Hollywood to provide it.

i'm cool w/ a cute Lois, just b/c Brendan Routh deserves someone equally, retardedly gorgeous. unfortunately, Kate Bosworth is neither cute nor sassy.

i'll definitely keep tabs on The House Next Door - thanks for the rec! & you're right - this'll be a great way to keep up our movie chats. :)
